David R. Schwartz, a partner in the firm, concentrates his practice in intellectual property, technology, Internet, corporate, and digital media matters. With experience both in private practice and at successful Internet companies, David has a unique insight to offer his clients as they grow.

David handles transactional matters related to licensing; websites and mobile applications; intellectual property registration and counseling; content and rights monetization; software and software-as-a-service (SaaS); platform-as-a-service (PaaS); data rights and privacy; data security; trade secrets; corporate policies, procedures, and compliance. David’s clients range from entrepreneurs and startups to public companies across several industries including software and technology, consumer internet, hospitality and restaurants, media and entertainment, interactive entertainment, financial services, public relations, data analytics, logistics, and more.

David particularly enjoys working at the intersection of media and technology, including the emerging areas of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), interactive gaming, and the Internet of Things (IoT), and providing advice and counsel to Silicon Beach, Los Angeles’ dynamic technology community. David often functions as outsourced general counsel for his clients, providing a range of services to enable them to efficiently develop their businesses.

Prior to joining Raines Feldman Littrell, David founded his own private practice catering to entrepreneurs and emerging businesses. He previously served as the sole attorney at three prominent technology companies: Yammer, Inc., Geni, Inc., and LoopNet, Inc. He began his legal career as an associate in the Los Angeles office of the firm now known as K&L Gates LLP.

  • David has been a frequent speaker at technology conferences both locally and nationally to discuss legal issues relating to new media. He has made presentations to the Technology Council of Southern California, the Technology Research Consortium, and the Social Networking Conference.

Community

  • A native of Los Angeles, David is committed to be involved with several prominent local organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Tower Cancer Research Foundation (TCRF), a Beverly Hills-based charitable organization devoted to funding early-stage cancer research and patient support programs, and is President of Cancer Free Generation, TCRF’s young leadership division. David is also on the Alumni Annual Giving Committee for Harvard-Westlake School.
