Matthew Garrett-Pate is an associate in the Labor and Employment Group of Raines Feldman LLP. Matthew’s practice focuses on representing employers in all employment matters including claims for discrimination, harassment, retaliation, failure to accommodate, and wage and hour violations. He also counsels employers on personnel matters, including compliance with California’s increasingly complex employment regulations. 

Prior to joining Raines Feldman, Matthew was an associate in the employment group of a large national law firm in downtown Los Angeles, where he handled a diverse mix of employment litigation matters from inception to final resolution. He has also worked as a law clerk at a Los Angeles-based firm representing labor unions in actions arising under the NLRA and as a law clerk with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Family Violence Division.

Matthew received his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. While a student, Matthew was Treasurer of the Latino Law Students Association and a competitor in Jessup Moot Court. 

Significant Engagements & Transactions

  • Matthew has represented clients before the EEOC and California state courts, including obtaining favorable results in high exposure cases involving sexual harassment, pregnancy discrimination, and employees with disabilities. Matthew has extensive experience representing employers and individuals in high profile sexual harassment cases involving alleged sexual assault and rape, including matters that have garnered media attention.
