Mr. Crouch has more than 40 years of experience in construction and complex commercial litigation.

Mr. Crouch has represented essentially every participant in a construction project including public and private owners, design professionals, construction managers, contractors and specialty subcontractors, suppliers, lenders, joint venture participants and sureties. Similarly, he has considerable breadth in construction projects, both public (highways, bridges, sewer and water, airports, jails, railroads, subways, dams, schools, sports venues and athletic complexes) and private (industrial, commercial high-rises, mid-rises, and low rises, office parks, movie theatres, shopping malls and strip malls, banks, private education, hotels, warehousing and residential developments). Industrial projects have included power plants, refineries, pipelines and compressor stations, steel mills, glass and plastics factories, chemical plants and processes, and mining facilities. Delivery systems have included multiple prime, turnkey, EPC, fast-track, proprietary, design-build, phased construction, “open book”, “GOCO”, “ESCO”, and environmental remediation.

Mr. Crouch has frequently litigated complex commercial matters outside of the construction industry. These representations have included defense of financial institutions, including the defense of consumer class actions. He has handled securities and accounting malpractice cases, as well as minority shareholder disputes and director and officer liability litigation. Similarly, he has handled shareholder litigation in closely held and family businesses. He has prosecuted and defended trade secret and business tort cases, and successfully obtained a seven-figure jury verdict in a Lanham Act case. He has handled several seven-figure insurance coverage claims and has handled numerous contested bankruptcy proceedings. The latter has included representation of healthcare facilities and providers, industrial manufacturers, metal producers and miners, sports franchises and construction companies.

Mr. Crouch also has considerable experience in product liability and mass tort litigation, both from the plaintiff and defense perspective. He previously served as counsel to a major mining equipment manufacturer, handling or supervising product litigation domestically and internationally, as well as working with the company on product warnings, government accident, regulatory and criminal investigations, and other general commercial matters.

Mr. Crouch is the past chair of the Allegheny County Construction Section. For several years, he served as editor of the Construction Section’s newsletter and authored the newsletter’s case note section. He’s been a speaker at various construction-related seminars and conferences and has contributed many articles to trade publications.

Mr. Crouch has also been active in pro bono services and organizations. He was previously chair of the Allegheny County Public Service Committee, has served several terms on the board of Neighborhood Legal Services Association and helped found and was chair of the Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership, a national award winning organization created to join corporate and private members of the bar in delivering services to the indigent through a series of signature projects.
