A Raines Feldman team led by Lauren Katunich, chair of Raines Feldman’s Labor & Employment department, successfully obtained summary judgment in a complex case against our client, a medical practice, involving 18 causes of action ranging from discrimination to wage and hour violations to tort claims, even including a PAGA claim. Despite the difficulties faced and going against the conventional wisdom that employment claims are rarely appropriate for such dispositive motions, on May 5, 2022, Judge Jon R. Takasugi of the Los Angeles County Superior Court granted defendant’s summary judgment motion in full – disposing of all 18 causes of action just in time to avoid a jury trial in July, securing a major win for Raines Feldman and our client.
