
Overview
Ronald B. Grais is an accomplished transactional attorney with deep expertise in real estate law, particularly in zoning, tax increment financing, and construction. He is known for representing developers of complex mixed-use projects and has served as a court-appointed receiver for developments still under construction. Ronald has significant experience in foreclosure, representing both property receivers and mechanics lien claimants.
He is also a trained and experienced mediator, frequently serving as a neutral in real estate and construction contract disputes. In recognition of his work, Ronald was featured in a 2011 Leading Lawyers Magazine cover story focused on real estate, construction, and environmental law. He currently advises nonprofit organizations in developing affordable supported housing.
Committed to community impact, Ronald has received the W.F. Faulkes Award and the Citizen Community Rehabilitation Service Award for his service. He was selected for the Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative in 2014, where he studied social entrepreneurship for community betterment. He serves as a director and former chairman of Thresholds, a leading mental health service provider, and holds board positions at The Chicago High School for the Arts, and the ChiArts Foundation.
